Mekkatronix has worked on the design of Calogena’s Small Modular Reactor mechanical structures. The team was involved from the summary preliminary design project phase, ensuring the robustness of the pool-type reactor structures and by incorporating base nuclear installation (BNI) imperatives. It is set to continue to support the Calogena project over the next phases, in particular with the detailed preliminary design project phase. One of the major challenges has been the calculation and simulation of a thermosyphon-based passive cooling system, guaranteeing operations without active intervention in the event of a loss of electrical power. This project illustrates Mekkatronix’s expertise in advanced mechanical engineering and digital simulation dedicated to stringent regulatory requirements in the nuclear industry.
